Description
Midkine (MDK) is a heparin-binding growth factor that is expressed in various cell types during embryo development and in a variety of carcinomas. It is induced by retinoic acid, as well as during oncogenesis, inflammation, and tissue repair. MDK is pleiotropic and promotes angiogenesis, neurogenesis, chondrogenesis, cell growth, cell migration, and tumorigenesis. It also inhibits apoptosis in some cells. MDK acts through several different receptors including PTP, ALK, PTP-zeta, and LRP. MDK shows significant homology to pleiotrophin (PTN). The amino acid sequence of Rat MDK is 99% homologous to human MDK.

Description
Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is a glycoprotein present in serum but absent from plasma. PDGF has three subforms: PDGFAA, PDGFBB, and PDGF-AB. This form is a disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of two peptide chains A (PDGFAA). It is involved in a number of biological processes, including hyperplasia, embryonic neuron development, chemotaxis, and respiratory tubule epithelial cell development. The function of PDGF is mediated by two tyrosine kinase receptors, PDGFR-α and PDGFR-β. PDGFR-α is the receptor that binds PDGFAA.

Description
Rat PPBP is an ELR type of CXC chemokine. This recombinant protein is a mature, proteolytically processed form of PPBP that is also known as NAP2. It is expressed in monocytes and macrophages, especially from the lungs, after treatment with bacterial endotoxins and released from the alpha-granules of platelets after their activation. NAP2 is chemotactic for fibroblasts and neutrophils and binds to the receptor CXCR2. It is involved in a variety of cellular processes including mitogenesis, DNA synthesis, extracellular matrix synthesis, glycolysis, and plasminogen activator synthesis.

3510-10-10 | 10 μg | $ 115.00 |
Description
Rat Prolactin (PRL) is a peptide hormone that is secreted most notably from the pituitary gland where it acts in an endocrine fashion, but also from extra pituitary regions where it acts in an autocrine or paracrine fashion. It is listed as having over 300 separate functions and is involved in more processes than any other pituitary hormone. PRL is most commonly known for its lactation stimulating effect, but also plays a role in reproductive behavior, homeostasis of electrolytes, growth and development, regulation of metabolism, immune system regulation, angiogenesis, and survival of cancer cells. PRL acts as a ligand for the prolactin receptor, PRLR.

Description
Rifampicin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic known for its efficacy against tuberculosis and other infections caused by Mycobacterium species. This semisynthetic antibiotic has also been shown to work against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), to activate nuclear pregnane x receptor (PXR), and to promote CYP2C-mediated metabolism.
Rifampicin functions by binding the β-subunit of RNA polymerase, inhibiting RNA synthesis. Resistance to this antibiotic develops from mutations on the binding site on RNA polymerase leading to a lower affinity for rifampicin.

SAA1, Rhesus Macaque
Catalog ID | Size | Pricing | |

2250-01-10 | 10 μg | $ 165.00 |
Description
SAA1 is a positive acute phase apolipoprotein reactant that associates with HDL. It is expressed predominantly by hepatocytes in the liver and secreted into plasma, but is also expressed and secreted by adipocytes, endothelial cells, and peripheral monocytes. Expression of SAA1 is induced by LPS and by a variety of cytokines such as IL1, IL6, and TNF. Induction causes a dramatic increase of SAA1 levels in blood, indicating that it may play a short-term role in response to injury and inflammation. SAA1 can aggregate into insoluble fibrils that are deposited in various tissues or organs and disrupt normal function, a condition known as amyloidosis. Amyloidosis of SAA1 is associated with rheumatoid arthritis. SAA1 induces the synthesis of a variety of cytokines and proteinases and inhibits proliferation of endothelial cells. When not bound to HDL, it is chemotactic for monocytes, phagocytes, CD4(+) and CD8(+) T-cells, and polymorphonuclear leukocytes. SAA1 is a ligand for CD36/SR-B3, SR-B1, FPRL1, TLR2, and RAGE.
