GoldBio BSA is a highly purified, lyophilized albumin, suitable for Westerns, enzyme systems, protein standards, hybridizations and as a protease-sensitive immunoassays. It is also perfectly suitable as a nutrient in cell culture media, with low interference and backgrounds and is ideal for most standard molecular biology experiments. Our BSA is protease and certified TSE free, manufactured in the United States in a closed loop system from USDA-inspected, healthy animals located in the US.

Brefeldin A is an antibiotic derived from Penicillium brefeldianum. It is an anti-cancer agent which disrupts protein transport and causes apoptosis of tumor cells. Brefeldin A disrupts the function of the Golgi apparatus and blocks Golgi-COPI activity. ER vesicles are prevented from fusion with the Golgi and are secretion is inhibited. Additionally, Brefeldin A is an ARF inhibitor, sphingomyelin cycle activator, and caspase-3 activator. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in leukemia cells and colon cancer cells.

Brilliant Green is a stain for differentiating E. coli from S. typhosa. It is also used in bacteriological media.

Bromocresol Green sodium salt is a tracking dye for RNA gels with a pH range of 3.8 (yellow) to 5.4 (blue).

Bromophenol blue is a dye for tracking proteins and nucleic acids in gel electrophoresis. Bromophenol blue migrates at about the same rate as ~500bp DNA in a 1% agarose gel and at the buffer front in protein polyacrylamide gels.

BTC (Betacellulin) is an EGF related growth factor containing 6 conserved cysteine residues, which form 3 intramolecular disulfide bonds essential for biological activity. It was originally isolated from the MCF-7 human breast carcinoma cell line and it is expressed in most tissues including kidney, uterus, liver and pancreas. BTC is also present in body fluids, including serum, milk, and colostrum. BTC is a ligand for the receptors erbB1 and erbB4. It is synthesized as a transmembrane protein and the ectodomain is cleaved by a protease to release the mature protein. BTC exhibits mitogenic activity for retinal pigment epithelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells. It also exhibits growth-promoting activity that is similar to that of EGF.

Bulbocapnine hydrochloride is the water-soluble form of the bulbocapnine alkaloid group, substances which act as acetylcholinesterase and tyrosine hydroxylase inhibitors. Activity from these chemicals causes dopamine biosynthesis to stall. Bulbocapnine hydrochloride is therefore a dopamine receptor antagonist but has also been used as a tyrosine 3-monooxygenase inhibitor (EC 1.14.16.2) and diamine oxidase inhibitor (EC 1.4.3.22). Because bulbocapnine is a plant metabolite, the substance has been responsible for lethal poisoning in livestock.

Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250 (CBBG) is a member of the Coomassie family and is used as a common analytical dye in SDS-PAGE and BN-PAGE. CBBG can also be used with the Bradford Method to determine protein concentration.

Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250 (CBBR) is a member of the Coomassie family and is used extensively as an analytical dye in SDS-PAGE.

Biotin can be used in cell culture media for its involvement in a number of cellular processes including gluconeogenesis, synthesis of fatty acids, and amino acids isoleucine and valine.

D-Biotin, also known as vitamin H or coenzyme R is a water-soluble member of the B vitamins (B7).

Nicotinamide is a metabolized amide form of vitamin B3. It is an anti-cancer agent and inhibitor of PARP-1, which is responsible for repairing DNA damage caused by chemotherapy. Nicotinamide is converted to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) for use in biological redox reactions. In addition, EDTA would inhibit the purification of proteins using immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC), for example His tagged or CBP tagged proteins.
