Description

Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside, broad-spectrum antibiotic that effectively inhibits Gram-negative and Gram-positive cell growth. Gentamicin's mode of action is to bind to the 30S ribosomal subunit and interfere with protein synthesis.

It is commonly used in clinical in vitro microbiological antimicrobial susceptibility tests (panels, discs, and MIC strips) against gram-positive and gram-negative microbial isolates. Medical microbiologists use AST results to recommend antibiotic treatment options for infected patients.

Germacrone

There is no image for Germacrone Germacrone
Catalog ID Size Pricing
G-100-10 10 mg $ 450.00

Description

Germacrone is an essential oil extracted from Rhizoma curcuma and has been used as an anti-cancer and anti-viral agent. It has been shown to eliminate hepatic and breast cancer cell lines by inhibiting cyclin dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) activity. It has also been shown to upregulate apoptotic protein expression.

Inhibition of viral replication by germacrone occurs early in the virus cycle. When used against influenza, germacrone inhibited in vivo and in vitro viral replication by inhibiting viral RNA and protein synthesis. This prevents viral replication after splicing DNA by removing the needed materials for proliferation.

Description

Glutathione, Oxidized (GSSG) is the oxidized version of the naturally occurring and very important detoxification agent glutathione (GSH). When used in vivo, GSSG will not remain oxidized, but rather be reduced back to GSH. A ratio of GSH to GSSG can be used to determine the level of oxidative stress that has occurred in cells. When a cell has higher levels of GSSG, then it can be implied that more oxidative stress has occurred within the cell.

Description

Glycine has many applications. As an amino acid, it is found as a biological molecule in the central nervous system and has inhibitory effect, especially in the spinal cord, brainstem and retina; and is also a precursor to proteins. In eukaryotes it is an important precursor to porphyrins, and provides the C2N subunit of all purines. For the purposes of testing glycine is a significant component of some solutions used in SDS-PAGE protein analysis as a buffering agent and for removing labelling antibodies from Western Blot membranes. Glycine methyl ester is a reagent used in chemical synthesis, it can synthesize selenohydantoins when used in addition to isoselenocyanate.

Glyoxal (High Density) 6% Agarose Beads, Crosslinked

G-303-100 100 mL $ 590.00
G-303-1000 1 L $ 5,407.00

Description

Biomolecules can be immobilized by binding them to a support under conditions that will then determine the characteristics of the complex. Immobilization is a technique that binds a ligand (enzyme, antibody, affinity proteins like Protein A or Protein G) to a support, giving high stability and making it easier to reuse the immobilized molecule.

Glyoxal beads allow a covalent binding of agarose to lysine amino groups (similar orientation to CNBr). Glyoxal agarose beads are ready to use and require no activation. The resin has a high amount of aldehydes groups (40-60 µmoles Glyoxal / ml gel) providing a very good option to conjugate affinity ligands improving the stability of the ligand.

The choice of Glyoxal or Aminoethyl will depend on the biomolecule to be immobilized, the accessibility of the reactive groups, and the direction/ orientation required for the binding to the support.

GMFB, Human

Catalog ID Size Pricing
1170-07-10 10 μg $ 165.00

Description

Glia maturation factor beta is an actin-binding protein that shows sequence similarity to the ADF/ cofilin family. It is expressed in the cytosol and on the cell surface of astrocytes and interacts with target receptors in a juxtacrine manner. GMFB is involved in the differentiation of glial cells and neurons. It stimulates axon regeneration and proliferation of astroblasts, and inhibits proliferation of tumors. It also reversibly inhibits proliferation of neuronal and non-neuronal neoplastic cells by arresting the cell cycle in the G0/G1 phase. It is suggested that GMFB acts an intracellular regulator of signal pathways.
