L-Kynurenine sulfate (salt) monohydrate
Product Description
L-Kynurenine sulfate is an intermediate in the breakdown of L-tryptophan and formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) along with the synthesis of niacin. L-Kynurenine and derivatives have a broad variety of biological applications including blood vessel dilation and immune system regulation. It also effects the neurological system, a buildup of undigested L-Kynurenine can lead to cognitive defects and depressive systems, while kynurenine production is increased in Alzheimer’s Disease. The enzyme kynureninase catabolized the conversion of kynurenine to anthranilic acid.
L-Kynurenine is experimentally associated with neuroprotective effects when administered prior to cerebral ischemia, and an exacerbative effect on neuronal damage following a middle cerebral artery occlusion. A derivative of L-Kynurenine, kynurenic acid, works as a radical scavenger and inhibits oxidative stress.
