Azelaic acid
Product Description
Azelaic acid is a dicarboxylic acid found in cereals and animal products. It is bactericidal against Proprionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis by inhibiting synthesis in microbial cellular proteins. It is found to be useful in controlling several skin conditions, including acne and hyperpigmentation. In melanoma cells azelaic acid inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to a significant reduction in proliferation.
