CCL1 is a chemokine containing four conserved cysteine residues, of which the first two are adjacent. It is expressed in and secreted from activated T-cells and it is chemotactic for monocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, and immature B-cells and dendritic cells. CCL1 has been shown to increase cytoplasmic calcium levels, protect T-cell lymphomas from apoptosis, and inhibit myeloid progenitors from proliferating. CCL1 is a ligand for CCR8 and is blocked by the viral CCR8 antagonist MC148R.
