5-Methoxy-2-[(S)-[(4-methoxy-3,5-dimethyl-2-pyridinyl)methyl]sulfinyl]-1H-benzimidazole sodium salt or (S)-omeprazole sodium salt is a gastric proton-pump inhibitor, which inhibits secretion of acid. The S-enantiomer is more potent than the R-enantiomer. It is studied for its effects on GERD, ulcers, and Crohn’s disease.
