Tazobactam is a β-lactamase inhibitor derived from penicillin. It is used along with β-lactam antibiotics, to prevent their degradation by β-lactamase enzymes. Tazobactam is often used with piperacillin to increase its potency. Additionally, tazobactam is used in studies regarding β-lactamase and penicillinase inhibition.
