DNase I, Bovine Pancreas (Lysate Tested), >300 Kunitz U/mg
Product Description
DNase I (Deoxyribonuclease I) is a dialyzed lyophilized powder from bovine pancreas that has been purified by chromatography.
Bovine pancreatic deoxyribonuclease (DNase) is an endonuclease which splits phosphodiester linkages, preferentially adjacent to a pyrimidine nucleotide yielding polynucleotides with a free hydroxyl group at the 3' position and phosphate group at the 5' position. The optimum pH is 7.8.
DNase I is activated by bivalent metals, and inhibited by chelating agents such as EDTA and SDS. DNase I can be stabilized against proteolytic digestion by 5mM Ca 2+.
Goldbio DNase is tested on bacterial lysates rather than on pure DNA. Tests on pure DNA are not as rigorous and tend to be biased toward success.

MOLECULAR BIOLOGY GRADE
Unit Definition: One Kunitz Unit will produce an A260 of 0.001 per minute at pH 5.0 at 25°C using DNA, type I or III as the substrate.
Storage/Handling: Store desiccated at -20°C.
Allow product to come to room temperature before opening.
For greatest stability, it is important that DNase to be dissolved at a concentration of at least 1 mg/ml in 50% Glycerol with 20mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, and 1mM MgCl 2.
